Tiffany Moore, CIT – CMHC

Welcome! My name is Tiffany Moore and I am a counselor-in-training (CIT) currently completing my master’s program in Clinical Mental Health Counseling at the University of Colorado Colorado Springs. Please note that I am under the supervision of Leilani Cullen, Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (CO #913), (WY #254) and (HI # 240).

What is a Counselor-In-Training (CIT)?

A Counselor in Training (CIT) is a mental health professional who is in the process of completing the necessary education, training, and supervised experience to become a fully licensed counselor. The specific definition and requirements vary by state and licensing board, but in general, a CIT:

  • Has completed or is near completing a graduate degree in counseling, psychology, or a related field (e.g., Clinical Mental Health Counseling).
  • Is working under supervision of a licensed professional (e.g., LPC, LMFT, LCSW) to gain the required clinical hours for licensure.
  • Provides counseling services to clients under supervision, which means their work is reviewed to ensure ethical and competent practice.
  • May hold a temporary or provisional license, depending on the state, such as an “LPC-Candidate” or “Associate Counselor.”

My Counseling Philosophy

It is my personal belief that each person deserves to live a full life uniquely defined by his/her/their own values, beliefs, family and community systems, experiences, and overall vision for one’s life. My personal aim is to help clients realize their full potential through the lens and practice of holistic counseling and coaching. In my practice and since the beginning of my career, I seek to bridge gaps between the holistic wellness model of mental health and the medical model of mental health. My approach supports a transition from a focus on diagnosis and treatment of mental illness to a humanistic, person-centered approach focused on holistic individual well-being.
